Drama and Film Studies - BA (Hons)

I'm Danielle Bonsu and I am a current graduate from Anglia Ruskin University. My passion for the creative arts industry came from, my interest in feminist literature and performance. With this interest came a great liking to create works that get people talking, whether it is behind or in-front of the camera and even on a stage or behind a stage.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, I was blessed with a unique gift from a young age. At just 11 years old, were I earned a scholarship at GSA. Moving to the UK I discovered a new passion for fashion and fell in love with constructing outfits that were both unique and stylish. I spent countless hours sketching designs for my recent project 'Don’t let Samba Die'. The play was based on culture and colours and Murder Mystery based on the Great Gatsby. Costume design is like the time travel and tour but just all in one place and acting ties in by living in the country or the time period. My goals are to Graduate and work my way up into a Tv and Film. I aspire to be the female Tyler Perry or even better.

As a costume lead, my recent project involved creating 13 stunning salsa costumes from scratch. As an up-and-coming screen actor with a passion for fashion, I poured my heart and soul into every aspect of the design process, from the initial concept to the final finishing touches. I aimed to create costumes that not only looked incredible but also made the dancers wearing them feel confident and empowered. I incorporated bold colors, intricate patterns, and flowing fabrics to bring each costume to life and capture the energy and excitement of the salsa dance style.

My ultimate goal was to create costumes that would make people feel alive and inspired when they saw them. I wanted the audience to be captivated by the beauty and vibrancy of the costumes and to feel transported to another world where anything is possible. Overall, I am incredibly proud of my work as a costume lead on this project, and I hope that my passion and dedication shine through in every stitch and detail of these magnificent costumes.
