Lizzie Knott is a digital illustrator who aims to open up the conversation of important social issues. These subjects include mental health, the LGBTQ+ community and diversity in our community. She enjoys working on a variety of briefs, from fast-paced editorial work to narrative work. She also plays around with colour, shadow and pattern to create vibrant pieces. Her work tends to focus on the depiction of different characters and throughout her Final Major Project she has begun to bring these characters to life through simple animations.
Lizzie also includes herself in her illustrations, especially when discussing Mental Health. During this lockdown period she has created work that aims to relate to many and has been featured on platforms such as Digital Trends. She is creates the artwork for a student podcast ‘All Things Mental Health’ which began last year.
Her Transport for London work has been long-listed for the World Illustration Awards. Another recent achievement includes illustrating and being interviewed for a Covid-19 mental health article with the BBC which featured on their front page and was shared internationally across their platforms. At the end of 2019, Lizzie also worked as part of Cambridge University Museum’s Remix to retell LGBTQ+ stories.
